  • Important Dates:

    • Priority Application window: Extended to November 7.
      • Do not submit an application before August 4.
      • Applications may continue to be accepted after November 7th, but will not get priority.
    • Offer Date is December 8, 2025. Programs will continue to make offers until they fill their positions. See Offer Process below for details.

  • Application Process--Now Online!

    • Register and complete the OMFC Standard Application, which includes uploading the following documents:
      • Curriculum Vitae
      • Personal Statement (including description of career plans)
      • Transcripts of National Board Exams
      • Recent Photo
    • Choose the Programs where you'll apply.
    • Contact the 3 people who will write letters of recommendation and tell them to send their letter to Stacy Schmidt, PhD: stacy@omfellowship.org.
      • Three letters of recommendation are required (1. from your most recent residency/fellowship program director, 2. a recent supervisor other than your residency/fellowship program director, and 3. one additional letter from a clinical supervisor who can attest to your abilities). It is preferred that the letters come from the writer directly.
    • Program Signaling will be open from November 17 to December 4. During this period, please log in to your application and select two programs to receive your preference signals. Signals should only be sent to programs where you have completed an interview. Please submit your rank list after signaling.

  • Offer Process

    • Priority Application Window is August 4 - November 7, 2025 (we recommend not waiting until the November deadline to apply so that you have ample time to schedule interviews).
    • Interview with programs that reach out to you.
    • You may send preference signals to your top two programs where you completed interviews. The 2 programs you select should be the programs where you are most interested in completing your fellowship. If you signal a program, the director will know that you have chosen them as one of your top two choices.
    • December 4: Rank the programs where you interviewed. Your rankings will serve as pilot data to inform the development of a future matching process.
    • December 4: Deadline to withdraw your application (if matched with other fellowship, e.g., GI, Endocrine, etc.)
    • Offer Date is December 8, 2025. All programs will send offers to their top applicant between 10am-12pm ET.
      • If you receive an offer from your top choice, let the program director know as soon as possible and decline all other offers so that other applicants may be given offers. Program directors can send out another offer immediately if their first choice declines the offer.
      • If you do not receive an offer on December 8, you may receive one the next day, later in the week or the following week(s) as programs go through their list of applicants.
      • As positions get filled, the status of programs will be updated on this page of the OMFC website so you can see where there are still openings.
      • You may apply to additional programs that have openings if your top choices did not offer the position to you.

  • Note:

    • Obesity Medicine fellowship programs do not participate in the Medical Specialties Matching Program; therefore, it is likely that some programs will make offers after December 8, as many candidates apply to multiple programs.
    • Individual programs may choose to accept applications after the deadline, if necessary, and may request additional information from applicants.
